1. Jamaica’s 14 Parishes
Jamaica is divided into 14 parishes. A parish is a region with its own main town (capital).
For example, Westmoreland’s capital is Savanna-la-Mar, and St. James’s capital is Montego Bay.
The capital city of the whole country is Kingston.

3. Reading a Map
A map is a drawing of a place from above. It uses directions to help us find our way.
The four main directions are North, East, South and West. On most maps, North points to the top.
Tip to remember them clockwise: "Never Eat Soggy Worms" — N, E, S, W.
4. Landforms of Jamaica
The land has different shapes called landforms.
- Mountains and hills — high land, like the Blue Mountains.
- Rivers — water flowing to the sea, like the Black River.
- Coasts and beaches — where the land meets the sea.
- Plains — flat land good for farming.
5. Festivals and Holidays
Jamaicans celebrate special days together.
- Independence Day — 6 August.
- Emancipation Day — 1 August.
- National Heroes Day — in October.
- Christmas and other religious festivals.
Festivals bring food, music and family together.
